Estate Planning and

Probate Attorney

Values and Approach

A battle-tested attorney, Ian provides measurable benefits and exemplary service to the client. Having had a practice for 12 years - spanning many shifts in the economic and social landscape - has cultivated the tenacity to carry your case to the finish-line.

Being a technologically proficient attorney is necessary to deliver efficient results to clients, despite the hang-ups and lack of fluidity of some, in fact likely most legal undertakings. The client rests at the forefront the of the case: it’s not about the attorney and their ability to navigate or their fees; it’s about the client and being given a fair shake and proper “airing,” and, the most thorough and robust enforcement of your rights.

Practice Highlights

Real Property Transfers

Transfers of Real Estate have many moving parts - it is not recommended to do your own transfer/Deed. Some examples of this are transfers between spouses and/or from parents to a child. There are capital gains tax concerns, there is state excise tax, there are percentage ownership considerations, community property and joint tenant property. It’s good to consult and get feedback from an expert on these topics which bear on most if not all transfers of real estate.

Construction and Contractor Matters

The office litigates and resolves business disputes between contractors and customers, or, between a general contractor and subcontractor.  We do Labor and Industries agency proceedings, audits, and compliance matters.  This area of the law is rooted in contract, but overlaps with business and partnership law as well. Our region has seen tremendous growth in the construction industry; growth that is here to stay. It’s important to be mindful of your rights when contracting an improvement project.

Management of Estate Assets

The office represents the Personal Representatives or heirs to an Estate, overseeing its distribution. The office also takes on debtor/creditor conflicts arising in probate, seeking to bring those claims to satisfaction and resolution.
